Job Description

Position Title: Director of EH&S

Location: Franklin, TN, Houston, TX, and Remote

Reports To: Senior Vice President, Corporate Operations

FLSA exemption status: Exempt

Aries Clean Technologies builds, owns, and operates sustainable, industrial-scale waste disposal facilities serving municipal biosolids clients. Our technology recovers the energy in biosolids waste while destroying harmful “forever chemicals” such as per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS), resulting in greener, healthier communities.

Our mission is to lead the way in sustainable waste management by leveraging our proprietary gasification technology to convert biosolids into renewable energy and valuable byproducts. Our purpose is clear: To provide innovative, environmentally friendly solutions that address the challenges of biosolids waste disposal. Today, Aries Clean Technologies is poised to make a lasting impact. Job Description:

Responsible for and has the authority to make all decisions on risk management & EH&S issues that directly impact the strategic direction of Aries Clean Technologies. The Director of EH&S has a strategic risk management vision and is charged with delivering that strategy to Aries using exceptional leadership skills, network of internal and external resources and highly developed business skills. Possesses an intimate knowledge of internal business processes and the Aries industry segment. Exhibits business process knowledge, possesses a broad-based operational perspective, and provides solutions for both insurance & non-insurance, and environmental, healthy & safety, related business risk issues. A recognized risk professional, who is an effective and decisive organizationally.

Key Responsibilities and Important Duties:

Risk Management:

  • Develop and implement enterprise-wide risk management strategies to identify, assess, and mitigate risks associated with business operations, projects, and investments.
  • Coordinate with internal stakeholders and external partners to manage insurance coverage, claims, and risk financing strategies.

Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) & Permitting:

  • Oversee EHS programs and initiatives to ensure compliance with environmental regulations, safety standards, and industry best practices.
  • Develop and implement policies, procedures, and training programs to promote a culture of safety and environmental stewardship.
  • Manage permitting processes for new and existing facilities, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Monitor regulatory developments and advise executive management on potential impacts and compliance requirements.
  • Develop and implement product stewardship programs to ensure the safe and responsible management of upstream and downstream products throughout their lifecycle.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to address product-related risks and compliance issues.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in chemical engineering, environmental engineering, regulatory compliance, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 10 years experience in EHS, permitting, and/or operations management, preferably in the energy or chemical industry.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire, motivate, and develop a strong safety culture in new teams.
  • Comprehensive understanding of regulatory requirements, industry standards, and best practices related to chemical, manufacturing, or electrical plant operations.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Proven track record of managing multi-disciplinary teams and delivering impactful results.
  • Ability to think strategically, anticipate challenges, and develop innovative solutions.
  • Role may require about 25% travel.
