About Kern Tutoring

Our mission is to boost students’ confidence, improve academic performance, and help them achieve their goals. We support local students in grades K–12 with personalized assistance in reading, math, and homework. Our main office is located in Downtown Bakersfield.

About the Role: Private Tutor (Six positions are available.)

We are seeking dedicated tutors to provide one-on-one, personalized academic support to help students succeed in a focused and supportive environment. This role is ideal for college students majoring in liberal arts, mathematics, science, or early childhood education, with sessions primarily held at our tutoring centers or online and typically scheduled during set appointment times.

Preferred Qualifications: 

1. 1 to 3 years of previous experience in education, including but not limited to:
2. Afterschool programs, substitute teaching, summer camps, tutoring, or teaching
3. Ability to tutor in two or more core subjects
4. Ability to travel to multiple tutoring centers
5. Be able to commit to a minimum of 6 months
6. Preferred majors: Mathematics, Liberal Arts, Science, CAFS
7. Bilingual and multilingual candidates are encouraged to apply

Minimum Requirements

1. Pass a criminal background check/live scan 
2. Clear Tuberculosis Test
3. 48 college units or meet your university’s classification of “junior” 
4. Must be available 8 am - 3 pm or 3 pm - 8 pm

Compensation

8 to 15 hours per week | $20 to $24 per hour*

*Rate will be based on education and experience.
